Bedrock Blasting Notice
The excavation phase of our project is approaching bedrock. Like many projects in the Rosslyn area there will be blasting to remove the bedrock. Our contractor, Air Power, Inc, will make use of a technique known as micro blasting. This technique is best practice in the industry and used specifically to limit and minimize the energy released both in terms of vibration as well as sound. There should be a little vibration felt as well as sound heard but most likely the warning horns will be most noticeable.We expect, subject to weather and unforeseen conditions, to begin this phase of rock excavation in approximately thirty (30) days and continue approximately to the end of November. No aspect of this operation is in any way novel or unusual, particularly for this area. Blast times will be scheduled Monday-Friday between 11am and 1pm. For reference, Air Power, Inc. was the contractor for the bedrock removal and blasting at the following Arlington projects: Turnberry Towers, Rosslyn Central Place, 1812 N. Moore Street, The Gables, Pierce Queen Apartments and Rosslyn Ridge.
